The 2014 Masters' Sweepstake
Thank you for everyone who entered this year's Masters sweep, and what a Masters it was! Congratulations to the three winners, and as Jonas Blixt was not in the top 50 ranked players, Miguel Angel Jimenez in 4th gets our 3rd place prize for Ray Dalton who has £100 credited to his account. In second place was the impressive 20 year-old Jordan Speith, who has a very bright future ahead of him, so John Mocatta has a cool £150 on his Pro Shop account. And for a second time in three years, Bubba Watson out played everyone with a three shot victory, giving our winner Peter Templer an enormous £250 credit on his account.
Do you need a new wedge?
If you’re looking for a new wedge or wedges, I have a terrific opportunity for you. I have this week taken delivery of six Titleist Vokey SM5 wedges which are all demo wedges which means you can take these out on the course or the practice area to see which one suits you best. And with these wedges ranging in loft between 50° and 60°, you should be able to cover most areas of short game play. Available in standard chrome, oil can or black heads, this is a great way to find the ideal wedge for your game or chosen shot. Please come in to the Pro Shop for further details or click on the image.

One of the most common faults that I get asked to solve is how to stop the putter wavering around on the back-stroke.
Often players find they can't take the putter back smoothly and find it difficult to start their backstroke. The first thing to check is your grip pressure. If you're gripping too hard you'll take the putter back with your hands and find it difficult to use your shoulders. Feel as if you can't grip the putter any lighter, that if you do it will fall out of your hands. Immediately you should feel the shoulders doing more work and experience a less jerky stroke. Also try to hover the putter at address, don't ground it. This will again encourage a smooth take-away.
