Ashridge Ladies won 3 ½ - 1 ½.
Ashridge has a new Captain
After Saturday's A.G.M., our new Captain, John Yule, drove in and spanked a beauty down the 1st fairway! I'm sure you'd like to join me in wishing John the very best of success during his year in office.
And Ashridge has a new Assistant Professional…
I'm delighted to tell you that after a lengthy search, I've finally recruited a new assistant professional. Jessica Heap currently lives in Cyprus and works at Elea Golf Club but has decided to come over to England to enroll in the PGA course.
Jessica is a very amiable young lady and is due to start work here on Monday, 25 May and I look forward to her settling in well and spending many happy times here. I'm sure you'll all give her a very warm Ashridge welcome.
Titleist Fitting Day
I'm very pleased to announce that I've agreed a Fitting Day with Titleist this year. The date is Saturday, 16 May and it will run between 12pm-4pm, so if you're looking to buy one or two of their iconic Vokey wedges or would like to try any of their current 915 drivers or fairways (or any other clubs come to mention it), this is the ideal time for you to try their clubs.
As always, if you'd like to book an appointment to be fitted by one of the Titleist technicians, please click here to let me know.
Fabulous new Polo Ralph Lauren & RLX men's clothing
I'm delighted to tell you that I now have this season's fabulous new men's Polo Ralph Lauren and RLX clothing in the Pro Shop. All of the clothing is absolutely first class and not only looks great, but also comes with our super club logo. Please pop in soon to check out this fantastic brand!
ECCO and FootJoy shoes
Please look out for some fantastic new ECCO shoes for both men and ladies as well as the terrific new DNA shoe from FootJoy. These shoe manufacturers have really upped their games this year and this year's styles look and feel great, so if you're looking for a great-fitting, super-comfortable pair of shoes, look no further!
Club cleaning service
With relatively little golf going on at the moment, now is the time to look at your equipment and how best you can improve it. So why not drop in your clubs to us and allow us to:
Scrub the grips with a stiff brush and plenty of hot, soapy water. This will help clear the grips of any unwanted dirt and grime and will make them feel a whole lot better.
Give the metal shafts a rub down with some very fine wire wool but ONLY IF THEY'RE STEEL SHAFTS! This will help get rid of any pitted areas and make them shine again. If they're graphite shafts, we'll take off any blemishes in another fashion.
And finally, why not clean the clubheads with that same hot, soapy water? Maybe there's some grooves lurking under there somewehere. ;)
All this for just £10 (up to a maximum of 14 clubs).
When do you switch on?
By that, I mean that you can't be focussed all the time but instead, have to be able to turn on and off when necessary. For example, most touring pros use the point of when their caddie drops the bag by the ball to "turn on". This is when they start thinking about their lie, the distance to the target, where the pin is cut etc., and then they execute their shot. Once the shot is over, they "turn off" and might think of something else - where they're having dinner that night, what time is their flight etc. - until they reach their next shot and the caddie drops the bag at which point the whole process starts over again. So, work out when you switch on and also make sure you switch off; golf is not about concentrating 100% of the time.
People who know...
So there's plenty happening in the Pro Shop and remember, as YOUR Club professional, I'd really appreciate it if you came to me first if you've seen something you'd like but it's not in the Pro Shop. In just about every case, I will be able to either match or most likely beat the price you've been quoted and not only that, if a fault develops, I'll deal with it quickly and efficiently and always with your best interests at heart.
Remember; "People who know, come to their Pro!"
