Mixed Home Internationals’ Competition
On Sunday, four crack teams of twelve golfers from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales lined up to do battle in this annual fixture. Retaining the trophy was the England team who amassed 204 points, whilst Ireland took the runner’s-up spot with 195 points with Wales and Scotland finishing on 193 and 187 points respectively.
The Masters Sweepstake
The Masters tournament in Augusta normally kicks off the golf season and to help create some interest in this event, I’m running another Masters Sweepstake event. Simply come into the Shop and, for £10 , you can take one of the 50 places available. Then, on Wednesday 9th April, a draw will be made and you will receive one of the higher ranked players within the tournament (dependent on numbers). The winner will be the member whose player finishes highest and first place will receive 50% of the pot, second will receive 30% and third 20% of the pot which can be spent in the Shop or added to your Pro Shop account. For more rules and regulations, please come in to the Pro Shop and speak to one of us.
Do you need a new wedge?
If you’re looking for a new wedge or wedges, I have a terrific opportunity for you. I have this week taken delivery of six Titleist Vokey SM5 wedges which are all demo wedges which means you can take these out on the course or the practice area to see which one suits you best. And with these wedges ranging in loft between 50° and 60°, you should be able to cover most areas of short game play. Available in standard chrome, oil can or black heads, this is a great way to find the ideal wedge for your game or chosen shot. Please come in to the Pro Shop for further details.
Easter Junior Golf Camps
My assistant, Jack Garrood, will be running two different, three-day Junior Golf Camps during the school Easter holidays. The first three-day event is scheduled for Thursday 10th – Sat 12th April and the second date is Thursday 17th – Saturday 19th April. Therefore, if you’d like your children/grand-children to have some fresh air, fun and improve their golf during the Easter holidays, please come into the Pro Shop for further details.
Men’s and Ladies’ golf shoes
I’m delighted to tell you that I have recently taken delivery of both the FootJoy and Ecco range of men’s and ladies’ shoes so if your feet are in need of some loving, please come in and we’d be delighted to show you the new range. As ever, there are some fantastic colours and styles available in both manufacturers’ shoes. And, if you’re looking to bag a bargain, I have several pairs of men’s and ladies’ Ecco and FootJoy shoes that I need to clear out and they are 30% OFF!
Srixon AD333 and Soft Feel golf balls
Several of you have been asking about me supplying golf balls with our club logo on. So, having listened to what you've had to say, I'm really pleased to say that both the Srixon AD333 and the Srixon Soft Feel golf balls are now available with our lovely logo on and at just £19.99 , they represent great value.
Polo Ralph Lauren
And I’m also pleased to advise you that I’ve received this season’s mens Polo Ralph Lauren collection of shirts. Many of these beautifully made shirts are club crested and come in great colours and as you know, they not only look great, but they wash really well and last a heck of a long time! So please come in and take a look to see if there’s a new Polo shirt that catches your eye.
Ladies’ Fashion Show
Four gorgeous models!
And finally, last Thursday I held my annual Ladies’ Fashion Show. Each lady received a sleeve of the excellent Callaway Solaire golf balls just for attending as well as some great 'on the day only' incentives and as such, I had almost 60 ladies attend the day.
The day started with a nine holes’ competition on each nine and was followed by lunch and then the show. I’d personally like to thank my four stunning models, namely Edda Aitchison (above right), Lorna Hall (below left), Liz Holroyd (below right) and Jane Morris (above left) for all their efforts and “attitude” on the catwalk – they certainly kept the audience well entertained!
Make sure your posture is correct at address
I’m seeing far too many of you with poor posture these days, particularly reaching for the ball, so to ensure you’re in good shape at the address position, please follow my advice. Stand up straight, bend forwards slightly from your hips and feel as though your arms and hands are just 'comfortably extended'. Once you’ve done this, imagine you’ve got a very heavy weight on your shoulders and that weight goes right through the middle of your body and your balance is in the middle of both fee and NOT on your toes. If you start with a good posture, the club has a decent chance of travelling around you along a decent path. Good luck!
