The 2014 Masters' Sweepstake
The Masters tournament in Augusta normally kicks off the golf season and to help create some interest in this event, I’m running another Masters Sweepstake event. Simply come into the Shop and, for £10 , you can take one of the 50 places available. Then, on Wednesday 9th April, a draw will be made and you will receive one of the higher ranked players within the tournament (dependent on numbers). The winner will be the member whose player finishes highest and first place will receive 50% of the pot, second will receive 30% and third 20% of the pot which can be spent in the Shop or added to your Pro Shop account. For more rules and regulations, please come in to the Pro Shop and speak to one of us.
Do you need a new wedge?
If you’re looking for a new wedge or wedges, I have a terrific opportunity for you. I have this week taken delivery of six Titleist Vokey SM5 wedges which are all demo wedges which means you can take these out on the course or the practice area to see which one suits you best. And with these wedges ranging in loft between 50° and 60°, you should be able to cover most areas of short game play. Available in standard chrome, oil can or black heads, this is a great way to find the ideal wedge for your game or chosen shot. Please come in to the Pro Shop for further details or click on the image.
Men’s and Ladies’ golf shoes
I’m delighted to tell you that I have recently taken delivery of both the FootJoy and Ecco range of men’s and ladies’ shoes so if your feet are in need of some loving, please come in and we’d be delighted to show you the new range. As ever, there are some fantastic colours and styles available in both manufacturers’ shoes. And, if you’re looking to bag a bargain, I have several pairs of men’s and ladies’ Ecco and FootJoy shoes that I need to clear out and they are 30% OFF!
Sun Mountain golf bags
I’ve also just received from Sun Mountain, some of their fantastic 2014, 3.5 Superlight golf bags. These bags weigh just 3 ½ lbs, hence the 3.5 name, come in fantastic colours and come with our fabulous club logo on the ball pocket. So if you’re in need of an extremely lightweight bag that looks great too, please come on in.
And whilst I’m on the subject of bags, I also have Sun Mountain’s H2NO Lite Cart bag which has individual dividers and is waterproof. Waterproof bags are becoming much more popular nowadays and I also have some Callaway waterproof bags too so if you don’t like your clubs and equipment getting wet, you know what to do! Polo Ralph Lauren
And I’m also pleased to advise you that I’ve received this season’s mens Polo Ralph Lauren collection of shirts. Many of these beautifully made shirts are club crested and come in great colours and as you know, they not only look great, but they wash really well and last a heck of a long time! So please come in and take a look to see if there’s a new Polo shirt that catches your eye.
Easter Junior golf camps
My assistant, Jack Garrood, will be running two different, three-day Junior Golf Camps during the school Easter holidays. The first three-day event is scheduled for Thursday 10th – Sat 12th April and the second date is Thursday 17th – Saturday 19th April. Therefore, if you’d like your children/grand-children to have some fresh air, fun and improve their golf during the Easter holidays, please come into the Pro Shop for further details.
Learn your trade on the driving range before you head for the course
Too many people continuously stand on the range and tire themselves out racing through a bucket of balls, without an aim or target to achieve from their practise. Make your practise more efficient and as close to playing on the course as possible, by creating your own targets and goals to achieve on the practise ground. Some helpful ideas are randomly changing your club and targets on the range, or working your way round the chipping green with one ball, playing different chip shots in random scenarios each time. This will build confidence and focus for when you take your game to the course.
Remember, practice with purpose. Good luck!
